WARREN, Ohio – Growth and collaborations were the keys to a successful 2024 at MyPath Mahoning Valley.
Building upon its commitment to assist students from sixth to 12th grade to determine their first destination after high school, MyPath sought more opportunities to interact with students, even outside its core service districts (Warren, Campbell and Youngstown City Schools).
In partnership with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, MyPath participated in an industry sector program at Jefferson Elementary School in Warren. About 130 students received information about MyPath, MVMC and area employers.
This year, MyPath will increase its interaction with all students in grades six through eight, according to Gerri Jenkins, executive director. “We hope to partner with Novelis in a 3D design program in April,” she says.
MyPath oversaw career development programming for students at Willard and Jefferson elementary schools in Warren, and McGuffey and Lincoln in Youngstown.
With the revival of the Y-Star scholarship for Youngstown City Schools students who plan to attend Youngstown State University, MyPath is working to double the number of participants for the 2025-26 academic year. There are 83 scholarship recipients in the Y-Star Program.
In Campbell, MyPath interacted with students at Memorial High School and the Northeast Ohio Impact Academy, where roughly 30% of the seniors stated their intent to attend college.
A hiring event last year at Stambaugh Auditorium attracted hundreds of high school and college graduates. The next is April 1 at Eastwood Event Centre.
