ROOTSTOWN, Ohio – Northeast Ohio Medical University recently announced the appointment of Katherine M. Tromp as dean of the College of Pharmacy.
She has served as interim dean since June 2023.
“We are thrilled to have Dr. Tromp build upon her successful leadership of NEOMED’s College of Pharmacy,” NEOMED President Dr. John Langell said. “Her energy, enthusiasm and scholarship will elevate the curriculum, preparing the next generation of dedicated pharmacists.”
Tromp also holds an appointment as associate professor of pharmacy practice. Her background is focused on community practice and pharmacy academia. Her areas of research and teaching include the scholarship of teaching and learning, immunizations and self-care.
“Dr. Tromp is a proven and exceptional leader who has done an outstanding job as interim dean,” NEOMED Provost Dr. Forrest Faison said. “Her experience, vision and commitment to the college made her the clear choice in a competitive search to be our next dean of the College of Pharmacy. The other deans and I are looking forward to working with her as we continue to grow the university and realize even greater achievements in the future.”
Tromp called it a privilege to lead the NEOMED College of Pharmacy as interim dean and an honor to continue in the role.
“The students, faculty and staff are exceptional, and I am looking forward to accomplishing great things together,” she said.
Before joining NEOMED, she served as the associate dean of the Florida Pathway and associate professor for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, Fla. Tromp completed her Pharm.D. at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, Mass. After pharmacy school, she completed a PGY-1 residency with MCPHS University and Walgreens.
