WARREN, Ohio – Sales of both new and used automobiles to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties tumbled slightly in May, according to the latest report from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
Dealerships in northeastern Ohio reported they sold a total of 2,192 new vehicles to Mahoning Valley customers last month, compared with 2,267 sold during the same period in 2025, representing a 3% decline.
Six local dealerships reported the five-largest sales during the month in terms of volume, the report showed. Boardman Subaru reported 167 new sales in May; Ken Ganley Boardman Kia reported 122 models sold; Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown and Fairway Ford in Canfield each recorded 102 new-vehicle sales during the month; Toyota of Boardman reported 99 sales; and #1 Cochran Chevrolet in Boardman recorded 92 new vehicles sold.
New vehicle sales outpaced those of used cars and trucks during the month, the report showed. Still, sales of used automobiles declined year-over year.
Dealerships reported total sales of 1,927 used vehicles to Mahoning Valley residents in May, compared with 1,986 sold in May 2025, a drop of 3%.
