YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A new exhibit at the Arms Family Museum will explore the history of Mill Creek Park, one of Youngstown’s most popular attractions.
“A Walk Through Youngstown’s Mill Creek Park” opens Tuesday, July 8, in the second-floor hallway of the museum and runs through the end of October.
The exhibit features historic photographs of the park’s lakes and structures, including Pioneer Pavilion, Lanterman’s Mill and the Cinderella Bridge. It also highlights individuals who helped shape and protect the park, such as founder Volney Rogers, landscape architects and members of the early park police force.
Mill Creek Park was founded in 1891 and opened to the public in 1893. It became a county-funded metropolitan park district in 1989 and remains a popular destination today.
The Arms Family Museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Admission includes access to the Tyler History Center.
