YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Customers living in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties purchased 2,402 new cars and trucks from area showrooms in December, a 30% leap from the same period last year, according to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association’s monthly report.

Sales also ended strong for all of 2024, as Mahoning Valley consumers purchased 26,891 new vehicles, compared with 23,534 in 2023, a 14% increase, data show.

Boardman Subaru sold the highest volume of new vehicles in December with 189. #1 Cochran Chevrolet posted the second-highest volume during the month with 134; #1 Cochran Honda realized the third-best sales with 113; #1 Cochran Buick GMC recorded 112; and Fairway Ford rounded out the fifth-highest volume sales with 111 for the month.

For all of 2024, Boardman Subaru sold the most new cars and trucks with 1,845, data show.  #1 Cochran Chevrolet sold the second highest with 1,398; Greenwood Chevrolet posted third-best volumes with 1,269; #1 Cochran Honda sold 1,212 new units; and Ken Ganley Kia recorded the fifth-highest volume sales with 1,189 during the year.

Sales of used vehicles were down slightly during December compared with year-ago numbers, while the number of total transactions improved during all of 2024 compared with the previous year.

Data show that consumers in the three-county area purchased 1,636 used vehicles during December, down 1% from the 1,653 purchased in December 2023.

Year-end volumes were better, as buyers ended 2024 with 22,650 used vehicle purchases, a 5.6% increase from the 21,448 used cars and trucks purchased in 2023, the report shows.
