CANFIELD, Ohio – School board members from across northeastern Ohio will gather Wednesday for professional connection, collaboration and insight at a Connect and Learn event hosted at the Bistro at Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. and is designed to offer board members an opportunity to strengthen their network, receive updates and share ideas in an informal setting.
Attendees will hear from Kathy McFarland, CEO of the Ohio School Boards Association, who will provide the latest updates on the organization’s initiatives and offer a legislative briefing relevant to Ohio’s school boards.
MCCTC and the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio governing boards will present McFarland, who is concluding her term as OSBA director, with a gift in appreciation of her leadership and contributions to public education across the state.
McFarland has served as a principal, assistant principal, teacher and adjunct faculty member at Capital University in Columbus. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in communications from North Carolina State University, where she competed as a collegiate swimmer, a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Dayton and a doctorate in educational leadership from Ohio University.
