YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oak Hill Collaborative will host its first e-waste collection drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22.
The collection drive will allow residents to drop off broken or unwanted technology. After the drive ends, Oak Hill’s partner, GreenBoard IT, will collect all materials and properly recycle and dispose of the technology.
The drive is a way for Oak Hill to encourage community members to safely recycle unwanted devices and prevent dangerous materials from ending up in landfills.
GreenBoard IT guarantees its clients’ e-waste disposals are in compliance with state and federal regulations and ensures landfill reduction practices.
Some items accepted at the collection site include laptops, PCs, DVD players, MP3 players, gaming consoles, routers, hard drives, keyboards, wires, scanners, LCD monitors, servers, cameras and other technology.
Printers, televisions and CRT monitors cannot be accepted.
To coincide with the e-waste collection drive, Oak Hill will offer a free, public course on e-waste at noon Nov 22. The class will discuss what e-waste is, how it’s recycled and how refurbished technology can impact the environment.
The drive will be hosted at Oak Hill’s main branch location, 507 Oak Hill Ave.
