COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Controlling Board approved $876,366 in funding for an IT infrastructure project at Youngstown State University.

“YSU has always been committed to giving their students a quality education,” state Rep. Lauren McNally of Youngstown, D-58th, said in a news release announcing the approval. “Having up-to-date technology and the infrastructure to support everyone on campus is a key to accomplishing that mission. I am proud of the state’s investment in YSU and can’t wait to see the good it will do.”

A document that accompanies the Controlling Board agenda said YSU plans to buy equipment to upgrade its data center.

“All currently commissioned equipment is about eight years old, at the end of its usable lifecycle, and nearly out of support,” it reads.

The equipment “serves as the backbone of YSU’s processing and connectivity to [the Ohio Academic Resources Network] and the public.”
