CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio Desk, a commercial interiors leader in northeastern Ohio, recently completed a long-term succession plan, transferring majority ownership to Heather Edkins and Amanda “Mandi” Banks.
Under their leadership, the company will continue to pursue its growth strategy.
Ohio Desk has been a cornerstone in the commercial interiors market in northeastern Ohio for more than 100 years. Founded in Cleveland in 1908, the company has since extended its geographic reach to Akron, Canton, Warren, Youngstown and Erie, Pa.
The majority ownership transfer comes as Jim Mullane, president, and Mike Stepanek, chief financial officer, have chosen to retire as shareholders of the organization.
Stepanek will remain and assist with financial strategies and day-to-day operations. Moving forward, Edkins has been named president, and Banks will become chief revenue officer.
With Edkins and Banks at the helm as the new majority shareholders, Ohio Desk will pursue Woman-Owned Business Enterprise certification in the coming months.
“It is with great pleasure and excitement that Heather and Mandi take the reins at Ohio Desk,” Mullane said. “They have both come up through the ranks of the sales organization and have a commitment to our people as well as our customers. I look forward to the next chapter as they become the new stewards and caretakers of our longstanding legacy.”
Both Edkins and Banks, previously minority shareholders, have been integral to the growth of the company for more than a decade, driving revenue goals and managing sales, design and operations.
Edkins has been with the company since 2012 and served as the vice president of sales and marketing, beginning in 2021. As vice president of market development, Banks was instrumental in developing strategic partnerships and new markets.
Ohio Desk also has expanded its offerings to a full range of commercial furnishings, audiovisual technology, floorings and finishes and integrated interiors.
Edkins and Banks will continue to seek new growth opportunities for the company, both geographically and through innovative product and service diversification to meet the evolving needs of their clients.
“We sincerely thank Jim and Mike for the work they have done to pave the way to our future,” Edkins said. “The heart of Ohio Desk has always been our people. Mandi and I are so proud of the team we have in place. Between our people, our strategic partnership with Steelcase and our commitment to northeast Ohio and western Pa., we are definitely poised for growth.”
