COLUMBUS – Employers in Ohio posted 162,092 job openings online from June 14 through July 13, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The figure represents a decrease of 3,360 postings from the prior month and 15,914 fewer postings compared to the same period a year earlier.

The largest share of job ads offered salaries between $50,000 and $79,000, accounting for 28.6% of postings. Six-figure positions made up 22.3%, while entry-level jobs paying less than $30,000 represented just 10.5%. By education level, 39.4% of postings required only a high school diploma or GED, while 38.4% sought candidates with a bachelor’s degree.

Truck drivers and registered nurses remained the most in-demand occupations, with 9,984 and 8,852 postings, respectively. Other high-demand roles included retail supervisors, retail salespersons, and stockers. Employers posting the most jobs included Dollar General, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, Kroger, and Mercy Health.

Common certifications requested in postings included a driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, and health care credentials such as basic life support and nursing certifications. Customer service, operations, scheduling, and supervisory skills topped the list of desired abilities.

Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Director Matt Damschroder said OhioMeansJobs.com continues to list more than 100,000 openings daily, with at least half paying above $50,000. “OhioMeansJobs.com is Ohio’s online career and employment center and a great resource for anyone looking for a job,” Damschroder said in a statement.

Officials noted the data reflects a snapshot in time and has not been seasonally adjusted. They encouraged job seekers to use OhioMeansJobs.com or visit local OhioMeansJobs centers for assistance with resumes, interviews, and training programs.
