YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Mayors from across Ohio and local legislators convened in Youngstown for a regional meeting hosted by the Ohio Mayors Alliance, focusing on public safety and proposed property tax reforms.

City leaders expressed concern that changes to the property tax system could reduce funding for essential services, particularly police and fire departments, which make up the largest portion of most city budgets. While acknowledging the need to address rising property tax burdens on residents, mayors advocated for reforms that protect critical local revenue.
