Ohio Unemployment

Ohioans filed 5,264 initial unemployment claims during the week ending June 28, an increase of 356 from the previous week, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Of those initial claims, about 596 were flagged for additional identity verification to prevent fraud.

Continued unemployment claims for the week totaled 49,491, up 455 from the previous week.

In total, 54,755 claims were filed in Ohio during the week.

Ohio’s unemployment rate in May was 4.9%, compared with the national rate of 4.2%. The state’s labor force participation rate was 62.7%, slightly above the national rate of 62.4%.
