Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Decline
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 10,535 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 2,834 fewer than the previous week and down 13,359 from the eight-week high of 23,894, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 36,401 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Aug. 27-Sept. 2, which was 1,615 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 5,305 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In July, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.3%. The national unemployment rate was 3.5%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in July was 62.1%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
