Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Decrease Slightly
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 5,690 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 22 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 38,456 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of May 5-11, which was 459 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 694 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In March, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.8%. The national unemployment rate also was 3.8%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in March was 61.8%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.7%.
