Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop Again
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 13,369 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 4,625 fewer than the previous week and down 10,525 from the eight-week high of 23,894, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
State residents also filed 38,016 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Aug. 20-26, which was 4,037 fewer than the previous week.
Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 5,601 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.
In July, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.3%. The national unemployment rate was 3.5%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in July was 62.1%. The national labor force participation rate was 62.6%.
