Ohio Unemployment

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 7,719 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 1,613 more than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.

State residents also filed 41,073 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of May 31-June 6, which was 1,483 more than the previous week.

Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 1,145 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.

In April, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 3.9%. The national unemployment rate was 4.3%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in April was 61.9%. The national labor force participation rate was 61.8%.
