COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel announced Tuesday that 566 employers were approved for funding through Ohio’s TechCred program in January.

The funding will provide the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 7,681 tech-focused credentials, according to a news release.

TechCred has now awarded more than 130,000 tech-focused credentials to more than 3,500 Ohio employers since 2019.

“The strength of Ohio’s economy depends on a skilled workforce,” DeWine said. “Through TechCred, we’re empowering businesses to invest in their employees and ensuring Ohioans have the tools to succeed.”

TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees with the credentials needed for a tech-infused economy. Top industries funded in this round include manufacturing, educational services and construction.

“TechCred empowers business owners to select the training that fits their employees’ specific needs,” Tressel said. “This ensures that Ohio’s workforce is not only skilled but also strategically aligned with the demands of the local economy.”

Businesses of all sizes, from any industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year.

The current application period for Ohio employers opened March 3 and will close at 3 p.m. March 31. More information is available HERE.
