COLUMBUS, Ohio – March was a record-breaking month for Ohio’s TechCred program.
Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel announced that 651 employers were approved for funding through the program in March, and the funding will provide the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 8,830 tech-focused credentials, according to a news release.
Both of these figures represent new high marks for a single application period in the program’s history.
“TechCred is all about our state teaming up with employers to build a future-ready workforce, and it’s clear from this record-breaking month that Ohio and its employers are all-in,” Tressel said. “The program is also extremely beneficial to employees. They are gaining skills that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives as our industries continue to evolve, creating a road to prosperity for themselves and their families.”
TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by upskilling current and prospective employees with the credentials needed for a tech-infused economy. Top industries funded this round include manufacturing, educational services and construction.
Businesses of all sizes, from any industry, are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year.
