Ownership of FNB Building Transferred to NJ Group
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The landmark First National Bank building downtown has officially transferred to new ownership, according to records filed at the Mahoning County Auditor’s office.
FNB Properties LLC, an entity based in Tenafly, N.J., is named as the new owner of the building – the tallest in the city. The 17-story structure was built in 1929.
According to records, the building sold for $1.375 million. Big Blue Properties LLC previously owned the building and paid $1.14 million in 2019. The sale record was filed Sept. 15 in the auditor’s office.
Attempts to reach the new owners of the building were unsuccessful.
The building – at 1 W. Federal Street – anchors the city’s central business district. Its major tenant is First National Bank. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
Platz Realty Group brokered the building’s sale. Last week, Platz’s managing partner, Don Thomas, told The Business Journal that there was considerable interest in the building, initially known as the Metropolitan Tower.
“It’s just a cool building,” Thomas said.
