Panel Discussion on Civic Responsibility Set at YSU
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Chapter of the American Association of University Women will present a panel discussion on civic responsibility at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Youngstown State University.
The Civic Responsibility of the Engaged University program will be held in Williamson Hall, Room 3423.
The discussion will focus on engaging students and faculty in initiatives that support civic engagement, community service, volunteerism, philanthropy and advancing the quality of life in communities.
The panelists are Laura Dewberry, director of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership; Kathie Chaffee Gaige, chair of voter services for the League of Women Voters; Cryshanna Jackson Leftwich, professor of politics and international relations; Hazel Marie, distinguished professor of mechanical engineering; and Amy Weaver, Sweeney Professor in Nursing.
The AAUW’s mission is to “advance gender equity through research, education and advocacy.” Local chapter meetings serve to educate and inspire members and guests and promote higher education as a means to empower women.
The program will be hosted by the Williamson College of Business Administration and is open to the public. Parking is available at St. Columba Cathedral off Wood Street.
