WARREN, Ohio – Workers on Wednesday erected the pedestrian foot bridge over the Mahoning River that connects Perkins Park and the Warren Community Amphitheatre to the area targeted for redevelopment known as the Peninsula.
The $2.4 million project was funded by American Rescue Plan Act funds and regional grants.
It’s part of the city’s effort to reconnect to the river that includes the removal of dams and boosting kayaking.
The bridge had been taken to the site in three segments. Two cranes were used – one on each side – to mount the assembled piece on the bridge supports.
A sloping concrete walkway to the bridge on the park side was constructed earlier this summer.
