YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Tim Petrey, CEO of HD Growth Partners, has been named to Forbes’ 2026 Best-In-State CPAs list for Ohio.

This marks the second consecutive year Petrey has earned a spot on the list.

The Best-In-State CPAs list is compiled exclusively by Forbes’ editorial staff and recognizes the top CPAs active in public practice across the country. Candidates are sourced through independent nominations and state CPA association recognitions, then evaluated on a range of weighted criteria, including expertise, innovation, thought leadership, professional experience and community service.

“Being recognized two years in a row is humbling, but what it really reflects is the team we’ve built and the clients who trust us with some of the most important decisions of their lives,” Petrey said. “We started with three people in the middle of a financial crisis. The fact that we’re still growing, still getting better and still showing up for the Mahoning Valley, that’s the real story.”

Petrey joined HD Growth Partners – then named HD Davis Associates – in 2008, when the firm had just three employees. After rising to managing partner at age 25, he has guided the firm’s growth, with more than 80 employees and offices in Liberty, the Cleveland area, Cincinnati and Bardstown, Ky.

Under Petrey’s leadership, HD Growth Partners has earned a long list of accolades, including recognition as a Best Accounting Firm to Work For and the Best Firm for Women by Accounting Today, a Top Workplace in Ohio by Crain’s Cleveland Business and a founding partner firm in the Ascend platform.
