Platt Insurance will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, marking a major milestone for the independent Howland, Ohio, agency with special events, client and referral promotions and community-focused initiatives.
Founded by owner Ellie Platt in 2011, the company has grown into a team of 13 dedicated professionals serving individuals, families, farms and businesses across the Mahoning Valley, Amelia Gavolas, operations coordinator, says. Employment growth in 2025 reflected both increased demand and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of service.
“Like many industries, insurance faced continued challenges in 2025. Rising costs, tighter underwriting and shifting carrier requirements created a more complicated marketplace for clients,” Gavolas says. “At Platt Insurance, these challenges were addressed through proactive communication and education – reviewing policies more frequently, setting clear expectations and helping clients make informed decisions in a rapidly changing environment.”
Internally, the agency continued refining systems and workflows to improve efficiency, allowing the team to be more responsive while keeping the focus on service and long-term client relationships, she adds.
Community involvement remains a key part of Platt Insurance’s identity. In 2025, the agency maintained strong collaborations with Farm Bureau, Valley Economic Development Partners, Better Business Bureau, Rotary Club of Youngstown, area schools and local 4-H programs to support youth, education and agricultural development throughout the region.
Platt Insurance also is working with Lehner Shope Wealth Group to expand the success of its Women’s Power Lunch series into Trumbull County, creating additional opportunities for connection and growth among women in business
“Heading into 2026, Platt Insurance is focused on sustainable growth and strengthening the relationships built over the past 15 years,” Gavolas says.
