YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County will host an open house at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 to showcase the Family Place Library at its Michael Kusalaba branch.
The event will honor those in the community who donated to PLYMC’s annual fundraiser last year to support the Family Place Library.
Family Place Libraries transform children’s services in a public library into an early childhood and parent support center, according to Kristen Todd-Wurm, national coordinator of Family Place Libraries, a foundation based in Centereach, N.Y. The libraries focus on “the whole child and the parent as the first teacher in a child’s life” and emphasize the role of the children’s librarian as a link to community resources.
During the open house, PLYMC staff will be on hand to give a tour of the library and to talk about the impact it will have on families in the community.
Register HERE by Thursday.
