YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A baseball sits in Anthony Trevena’s office, a reminder from his son and a metaphor he often repeats: Sometimes you just have to close your eyes and swing.
As executive director of the Western Reserve Port Authority, Trevena has spent the past decade doing just that — expanding the agency’s role from airport operator to a major player in regional economic development.
From assembling industrial land for Kimberly-Clark’s $800 million plant to redeveloping long-vacant properties across Mahoning and Trumbull counties, Trevena says his work is rooted in a simple goal: leave the community a little better than he found it.
