YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Premier Bank donated $30,000 to American Red Cross of Greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley.

“We are proud to support the American Red Cross and to honor individuals that have demonstrated acts of extraordinary courage,” said Trish Gelsomino, foundation giving coordinator at Premier Bank. “Together we can spread kindness and make Greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley communities stronger.”

The funds will be used to sponsor the 29th annual Acts of Courage Awards and the Northeast Ohio Hero Awards events.

“We will present the Acts of Courage Awards in March to those residents of Columbiana, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties who have acted courageously and selflessly in a time of emergency. We will also present a community member who has spent a lifetime pursuing good deeds with the H. Peter Burg Community Leader Award,” said Rachel Stine, executive director of American Red Cross of Greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley.

“In addition, we will honor those residents of Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties who have acted courageously and selflessly in a time of emergency at the Northeast Ohio Hero Awards in June,” Stine said. “This year, one outstanding community member will receive the first ever Lorraine Dodero Community Leader Award.”
