Football Celebrities to Headline Upcoming Events
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Several sports celebrities will participate in two upcoming local events. The Ron Stoops Sr. & Anthony Pelini Memorial Foundation Bocce Social will take place June 28, followed by the Cardinal Mooney Football Camp of Champions June 29 and 30.
In its 13th year, the bocce social, which will get under way at noon, at the MVR Restaurant, is open to all – no bocce experience is required. The sports celebrity guests on hand may “join “ teams at any time throughout the tournament.
The tournament champions will receive a football autographed by University of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops or Youngstown State University head coach Mark “Bo” Pelini, who will be among several celebrities attending. Others who may attend attend include former lightweight boxing champ Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini, former National Football League players Kyle McCarthy and Ed Muransky, University of Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and University of Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops.
The event includes an all-day open bar, appetizers, and a dinner feast with steak, chicken, pastas and more. A raffle will feature items from major college and pro football teams.

The Mooney Football Camp of Champions, which has taken place since 2002, will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. both days at the school’s athletic complex. Open to athletes in grades 3 through 8, the camp is a non-contact program focusing on individual and team skills and fundamentals. It gives student athletes the opportunity to be coached by some the best high school, college and professional coaches in the United States.
Participants will be separated by age for drills and competition focusing on speed and agility, blocking and tackling, quarterback and receiver skills, pass rushing and pass defense. Camp coaches and special guest clinicians will be on hand to guide the young athletes and give motivational talks based on their experiences in college and professional football.
Many of the participants in the bocce social are among those expected to take part in the football camp.

Parents may also enroll their children by downloading a registration form at the Mooney website or calling the school at 330 788 5007 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
