YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Project DH: Destiny and Hope, a new Mahoning Valley nonprofit, has launched a new community initiative to help keep children warm this winter.

This December, Project DH will provide each student at South Side Academy with a pair of gloves or mittens and a full pack of socks.

The organization is looking to raise $2,500 to provide the winter essentials for more than 200 students at the school.

The community can help in two ways:

  • Make a donation HERE.
  • Drop off new gloves, mittens and packs of socks (each pack containing at least six pairs) at Ryan’s Chair Barbershop & Beauty Salon, 2935 Glenwood Ave.

All items will be distributed to South Side Academy students Dec. 19.

Project DH, which was formed earlier this year, has already made a local impact by securing donations to feed five families during Thanksgiving through its Tables of Hope initiative.

The organization’s mission is to preserve legacy, ignite hope and build destiny through initiatives that promote healing, empowerment and community transformation. For more information, visit the organization’s Facebook page.
