CANFIELD, Ohio – In this excerpt from The Business Journal Roundtable Series featuring housing and mortgages, panelists say the local market has remained stable following the pandemic-era surge, with modest appreciation continuing and few signs of widespread homeowners being underwater.
Participants noted Ohio’s median home price remains well below the national median, supporting affordability, while recent years have brought more of a plateau than a decline in values. Inventory has increased, creating a more balanced market, with some panelists expecting conditions to shift slightly in buyers’ favor heading into 2026.
The group also said consolidation among national real estate brokerages is unlikely to significantly affect local markets, emphasizing that real estate remains a relationship-driven, locally focused business.
