YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Lari Gibbons, an acclaimed printmaker, will be the guest at this year’s Red Press Collaborative, presented by Youngstown State University’s art department.
The weeklong event will take place March 9-13, with daily collaborative printing sessions in Bliss Hall, Room 4025.
An annual tradition at YSU, the Red Press Collaborative invites a celebrated printmaker to campus for one week to work alongside art students in the creation of a limited-edition collaborative print. The resulting work is signed, numbered and fully documented and made available to supporters via a donation of $125 – with all contributions directed toward the printmaking program’s study abroad initiatives, student conference travel, equipment and the annual collaboration itself.
Gibbons is a professor of art at the University of North Texas, where she teaches printmaking, and spent a decade directing Print Press, the university’s professional fine art collaborative print workshop. Her practice bridges traditional and innovative approaches, combining analog craft with digital tools such as laser cutters and CNC routers to create woodblocks, plates and matrices printed by hand.
In addition to the studio sessions, Gibbons will deliver a public lecture on the opening day of the residency. The lecture is free and open to the public and will take place at the John J. McDonough Museum of Art on the YSU campus.
The 2026 collaboration continues a distinguished roster of visiting artists who have participated in the Red Press Collaborative at YSU, including Michael Weigman, Jeffrey Sippel, Richard Repasky, Susanne Slavick, Robyn O’Neil and others.
