YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will launch a new Local Government Leadership Academy in December to help elected and appointed public officials strengthen their knowledge, skills and connections to better serve their communities.

The four-month program will feature leaders from across Ohio, including legislators and representatives from the governor’s, auditor’s and attorney general’s offices, discussing issues essential to effective local government.

The topics are ethics, budget requests and advocacy, efficient and secure government and record management and open records laws. Each session also will include regionally focused courses such as collaboration and common obstacles.

“The academy is designed to help local officials strengthen how they lead and build stronger, more connected communities through informed, effective leadership,” said Nico Morgione, director of government affairs for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. “Local government decisions shape communities every day, and this program will give leaders the insight and confidence to serve with collaboration and accountability.”

The Western Reserve Port Authority is the Regional Chamber’s partner and top sponsor for the academy.

“The chamber’s new Local Government Leadership Academy is an innovative program designed to invest in the future of our communities,” said Anthony Trevena, executive director of the Western Reserve Port Authority. “By equipping local public servants with enhanced skills and knowledge, the academy strengthens leadership and fosters collaboration across our region.”
