YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Through the generosity of the community, the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley provided more than 130,600 meals and nearly 58,000 nights of emergency shelter for those in need in 2025.
According to its 2025 Impact Report, which covers Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, the rescue mission received $3.6 million in financial support, including nearly $2.4 million from nearly 11,000 individuals, and $352,102 in in-kind donations. Less than $2.50 provides a meal.
Thirty-eight staff members, 717 volunteers and 61 groups provided more than 8,600 hours of service.
The rescue mission served 130,617 meals and provided 57,879 nights of shelter to 1,026 individuals, including families. The report highlights how the rescue mission helped individuals who unexpectedly lost a job, a marriage or a home, leaving them without the means to support themselves.
The organization provides those in need with resources – such as transitional and pre-employment programs – to help them return to self-stability.
“Coming here was the best thing I ever did for myself,” said Debra, who turned to the rescue mission after losing her home. “This place has done wonders in helping me strengthen my relationship with Christ.”
For more than 130 years, the rescue mission has proclaimed the Gospel, promoted accountability and provided food to men, women and families experiencing hunger and homelessness.
“Every meal served and every bed provided is an opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel,” said John Muckridge III, president and CEO of the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley. “We thank the Lord for his faithfulness and for every person who answered his call to give, serve and pray.”
