YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept 18 for The SandBar & Grill, a new family-owned restaurant and bar located at 116 W. Federal St., downtown.

Owned and operated by Gopy Singh, The SandBar & Grill offers a beach-inspired theme that features a diverse menu that caters to adults and families.

“We’re excited to open our doors in downtown Youngstown and to share our passion for great food and community,” Singh said in a statement. “The SandBar & Grill is a place where families and friends can come together, relax and enjoy a quality dining experience in a fun setting.”

The menu features a wide range of appetizers and entrees, including bacon cheese fries, fried shrimp, and a variety of wings with house-made sauces.

Signature dishes include bacon cheeseburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, fried fish sandwiches and chicken or lamb over rice – paying homage to the popular New York City Halal-style cuisine. The restaurant also offers fresh salads, a full kids menu and sides such as mac and cheese, onion rings and potato wedges.

In addition to dining, the SandBar features pool tables, air hockey, darts and a large sandbox for children.

The new restaurant opened recently in what was once the Hookah Bar and Lounge, fronting West Commerce Street. The Hookah Lounge had become an issue earlier this year because of large crowds and fights, and Mayor Jamael Tito Brown and police Chief Carl Davis singled out the establishment and another bar, the Social, during a press event in July that addressed disorderly crowds and underage drinking downtown.
