SALEM, Ohio – The University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center earned reaccreditation from the Commission on Cancer, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons.

The national recognition is awarded to cancer programs that meet standards for comprehensive, patient‑centered care and demonstrate commitment to improving outcomes for the communities they serve.

To achieve CoC reaccreditation, cancer programs must undergo an evaluation and on‑site review every three years.

“Reaccreditation by the Commission on Cancer reflects the exceptional dedication of our physicians, nurses and care teams,” said Dr. Anita Hackstedde SRMC president and CEO. “It affirms that patients throughout the Mahoning Valley have access to high‑quality cancer care close to home, supported by advanced treatment options and the expertise of a nationally recognized cancer program.”

As part of the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center network, the program at SRMC provides local access to leading‑edge cancer services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapy, clinical trials and supportive care. Patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team approach, where specialists collaborate to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

Fellowship-trained radiation oncologist Dr. William Demas is the medical director of the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center at Salem Regional Medical Center.
