CALCUTTA, Ohio – Heritage Valley Health System patients may soon find a new doctor and services at the Calcutta Medical Arts Center.

Heritage Valley Health System recently announced its intention to close its facility at 48462 Bell School Road on March 20.

A spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that Salem Regional Medical Center plans to reopen the facility April 13.

The location currently serves as a primary care facility and convenient care walk-in clinic. It also provides lab and diagnostic imaging, heart and vascular services and mammographies.

Dr. Marcella Purtell, Dr. Venus Wittenauer and nurse practitioners Kelly Fischer and Katlynn White currently practice at the location. According to Salem Regional Medical Center, the facility will retain Purtell and Fischer, while adding Dr. Katarina Barlow to the practice.

On its Facebook page, Heritage Valley is directing patients to call phone numbers in Pennsylvania to transfer within its system, select new physicians and continue treatment.

A Salem Regional spokesperson said leadership emphasized the importance of maintaining continuity of care for Heritage Valley patients. Updates will be provided for patient scheduling at the Calcutta location, but patients with questions can call 330 556 6666.
