YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new and used vehicles to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties fell sharply during February compared with the same period a year ago, data show.
According to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association, buyers living in the three-county region purchased 1,984 new vehicles last month, compared with 2,189 purchased in February 2024, a 9.3% decline.
Sales of used vehicles were also sluggish, data show. The Dealers’ Association reports that local customers bought 1,696 used cars and trucks in February. That compares with 2,173 units purchased a year earlier, reflecting a 21% plunge from 2024.
Boardman Subaru reported the most transactions for new vehicles in February with 135 sales, followed by Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 110 vehicle sales.
Cochran Chevrolet, Boardman, reported the third-highest sales volumes for new vehicles with 103 sold; Cochran Buick GMC, Boardman, registered 85 new vehicle sales; and Ken Ganley Kia rounded out the top five with 79 new vehicles sold.
Sales of new vehicles in February were also lower compared with last month, according to the Dealers’ Association. February sales for new vehicles plunged 15% compared with January, when dealers sold 2,338 new cars and trucks to regional customers. Used vehicle sales fared better month-to-month, as dealers reported a 6.8% increase in volume during February.
