BOARDMAN, Ohio – Since relocating to the busy corner of U.S. Route 224 and Market Street, Sapphire Aesthetics and Wellness has become a prominent fixture in the Boardman community, offering a growing array of services.

The medical spa’s new space at the Prosper Centre has increased its visibility while also allowing the team to expand its offerings.

CEO and nurse practitioner Ashley Vidale says the practice has been steadily building its reputation since opening three years ago. “Our goal coming into this community was to provide a safe space for clients to come in and work on their aesthetic goals, also their wellness goals,” she says.

Sapphire offers a wide range of services, including Botox, fillers, skin restoration and microneedling. On the wellness side, the practice provides IV therapy, hydration treatments and weight-loss medications to help clients achieve their health goals.

Vidale says the new location has had a positive impact on the business. The previous site on Boardman-Canfield Road posed accessibility challenges, particularly for older clients. “The only problem there is we had a lot of stairs for clients to climb up and they were steep. And so with our 80-year-old demographic, we were more worried about them,” she says.

To address those challenges, DeSalvo Construction was brought in to design and build out the new space. “They really did a great build-out. They took our vision to the next level,” Vidale says.

Mark Dodd, a project manager with DeSalvo Construction, says the company transformed the empty shell of the building into a fully functional space tailored to Sapphire Aesthetics and Wellness’s needs. “The landlord brought all the utilities and the mechanical units, electrical panels to the building, and then we extended all of that based on how she wanted her building laid out.”

The build-out took about four months and involved a team of DeSalvo carpenters along with multiple subcontractors. Dodd says the company worked closely with Olsavsky Jaminet Architects to coordinate design details. “We gave [Sapphire] budgets for certain materials, and then we would procure samples that were within that budget and give the owner some leeway to select those materials,” he says.

Even the logistics of construction were carefully managed to minimize disruption at the busy intersection. “It is one of the busiest corners of all time,” Dodd says. “We scheduled deliveries accordingly. Tried to do things early mornings and before the five o’clock rush.”

Vidale says DeSalvo’s attention to detail helped create a space that is both functional and inviting. “They have a standard and that has just been the most weight lifted off of our shoulder type of thing.”

The new facility has allowed Sapphire to expand both its footprint and its schedule. Previously, some treatments shared space, which limited how many clients could be seen in a day. “Coming up here, it actually has allowed us to see more people. We’re not bottlenecking one room,” Vidale says. “Now we have more space. We can see clients. And it really has opened up scheduling as well for our clients.”

Sapphire’s services span from aesthetic treatments such as Botox, fillers and HydraFacials to wellness services like IV infusions, functional medicine, pelvic floor therapy and core strengthening. Vidale says the practice serves clients from 18 to over 80 years old, each with distinct needs.

“My younger clientele, they are exercising. So they come here for recovery type things. So IV infusions, if they’re getting ready for a show or have just run a whole marathon, and they need that boost in recovery,” she says.

Older clients often focus on mobility and independence. “Their main things are they want to function at home. They want to be able to trip over their carpet or rug, and be able to catch themselves and not fall and hurt themselves,” Vidale says. “So we’re doing a lot of pelvic floor strengthening for them, also core strengthening for them as well.”

She says the practice is also seeing increased demand from clients recovering from childbirth, dealing with postpartum hair loss or pelvic floor issues, and from those who have lost significant weight and want to tighten sagging skin.

Vidale says the visibility of the new location has drawn in many new clients who didn’t know such services were available locally. “So many people will come in like, ‘wow, I didn’t know those services existed’, or ‘I didn’t know anybody in the area was doing those things,’ just because of the visibility,” she says.

The space was designed to be medical-grade but comfortable, offering privacy and accessibility.

For example, the IV infusion lounge has privacy curtains, while the facial room features dimmable lighting and dark ceilings to create a more relaxing environment. Every treatment room includes sinks and workspaces, which Vidale says helps staff provide efficient, high-quality care.

Looking ahead, Sapphire plans to expand its reach. “Within the next year, we’ll be opening a location in Niles,” Vidale says. “We actually have a clientele who already comes out from that area, so it’d be great for us to go out there, and they’ll have less of a drive to get their services done.”

Vidale credited DeSalvo Construction with helping make that growth possible. “The DeSalvo company has really put us in a situation where we were able to chase our dreams,” she says. “They’ve been supportive, and they’ve been a great company to help us do that.”

Dodd says the feeling is mutual. “Terrell [Vidale’s husband] and Ashley are great people. We really enjoy working with them. And we’re working on other projects with them now,” he says.

For Vidale, the new space represents more than just a building. She says it’s a place where community members can take charge of their health and well-being. “There’s a certain part of wellness that people have to take into their own hands, and so we are offering a space for people to be able to take control of their wellness.”
