YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley on Monday announced the winners of its annual Canstruction event.
The event, held Saturday at Eastwood Mall, brought together local teams who transformed nonperishable food items into large sculptures to help raise awareness about hunger in the Mahoning Valley.

This year’s winners are:
- Structural Ingenuity: Goldfish Bowl, Gateways to Better Living.
- Best Meal: Crab, Cafaro Co.
- Best Use of Labels: Jonah and the Whale, Niles First Christian Church.
- Best Original Design: Kraken, Ultium Cells.
- Most Cans: Kraken, Ultium Cells.
All Canstruction displays will remain on exhibit at Eastwood Mall until tear-down day, June 12, giving visitors the opportunity to view the creative structures and support their favorite builds by voting for the People’s Choice Award at the mall service desk.

At the conclusion of the event, all canned and nonperishable food items used in the displays will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank to help support those in need throughout Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
