YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley will host the inaugural Feed the Need Fun Run on May 16 at Firestone Farms in Columbiana.
The .1-mile charity “race” is designed to bring big laughs and even bigger impact to the fight against hunger, a news release states. Participants can jog, walk, dance, skip or power-strut their way to the finish line. The Feed the Need Fun Run is open to all ages and fitness levels.
The family-friendly event will feature free ice cream for participants, keepsake cups, a bounce house and kids activities, music, food trucks and games. Participants are encouraged to dress up and embrace the silly spirit of the day.
Registration will take place from 10-10:45 a.m., followed by the kids run (age 12 and younger) at 11 a.m., the adult run (age 12 and older) at 11:30 a.m. and an awards ceremony at noon. Activities will take place after the race.
Registration is $10, and participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to receive a ticket for a prize drawing.
