YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio  – The second outdoor concert that has been added to Y-Live weekend will not be a country artist.

The act will be revealed Wednesday morning, July 2, according to JAC Live, the concert promoter.

The concert will take place Friday, Sept. 26, in Wean Park, next to Covelli Centre, downtown. The on-sale date for tickets will also be announced on Wednesday.

The concert will be the evening before this year’s other Y-Live concert, which was previously announced and will feature country superstar Tim McGraw, on Sept. 27. The opening act for McGraw is expected to be announced this week, said Ken Bigley, chief operating officer of JAC Management.

JAC Live has long wanted to add a second concert to Y-Live weekend, and the reasons are simple.

Turning Wean Park into a concert venue is a massive undertaking. Fencing, electricity, a stage, wifi, sanitation, security and many other infrastructure items have to be temporarily erected.

Adding a second date, for back-to-back concerts, allows JAC to get more usage out of the effort.

It will also mean a second big opportunity for downtown restaurants, bars, breweries and hotels to take advantage of a huge influx of people, said Bigley.

The Y-Live concerts typically draw at least 20,000 people.

JAC Live started the annual event in 2017. The concerts were originally at Stambaugh Stadium but were moved to the riverfront Wean Park in 2022.

The concert is easily the biggest entertainment event in the Mahoning Valley each year and this year’s will almost certainly set an attendance record for a single weekend in the city.

Past headliners have included Zac Brown Band, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw.
