Sekanick Elected Secretary of American Institute of Architects
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Bruce W. Sekanick, a principal in the Warren firm of Phillips/Sekanick Architects, recently was elected secretary of the American Institute of Architects Board of Directors.
The American Institute of Architects is the leading professional membership association for licensed architects and emerging professionals. AIA Ohio represents more than 2,000 licensed architects and associate architects.
“We are extremely proud of Bruce and this accomplishment and we know that he will make a positive impact on AIA’s membership,” said Gregg Strollo, AIA Ohio president and partner in Strollo Architects, Youngstown.
Sekanick will take office in December. He is currently the chair of ArchiPAC, the Institute’s political action committee. He previously served as chair of the AIA National Strategic Planning Committee. He was also president of AIA Ohio in 2010 and president of AIA Eastern Ohio in 1995.
Sekanick received his bachelor of science and bachelor of architecture degrees from Kent State University along with a certificate in urban studies and planning. He also completed an executive certificate program in leadership and management in 2012 from the University of Notre Dame.
