SHARON, Pa. – The Sharon City School District will provide a send-off to the Sharon Tiger Techs robotics team with a Tiger Tunnel on Wednesday at both Sharon Middle-High School and Case Avenue Elementary School.
The Tiger Tunnel will take place at 2:10 p.m. at Case Avenue Elementary, followed by another send-off at 2:40 p.m. at Sharon Middle-High School.
The Sharon Tiger Techs team is traveling to the Western Edge Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., to compete against 70 of the best robotics teams from around the world. The Sharon team, composed of 10 students in sixth through ninth grade, qualified for the event at the Pennsylvania State Championship.
While at the state championship, the Tiger Techs received the Third Place Champion’s Award (overall). As a result, the team is the only Pennsylvania First Lego League Team advancing and traveling to California from May 29-June 4.
The robotics teams are part of the First (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) organization. The teams are funded by community sponsors and the Sharon City School District.
