SHARON, Pa. – The Sharon School District will host a send-off celebration for the Sharon Tiger Techs robotics team Friday.

The event will feature a Tiger Tunnel at 2:10 p.m. at Case Avenue Elementary School and at 2:30 p.m. at Sharon Middle-High School.

The Tiger Techs will travel to Long Beach, Calif., to compete in the Western Edge Invitational, an international championship event featuring 90 of the top robotics teams from around the world. The Sharon team, made up of 10 students in grades six through nine, earned their qualification at the Pennsylvania First Lego League State Championship.

At the state championship, the Sharon team received the Second Place Innovation Project Award, securing its place as one of only two Pennsylvania First Lego League teams to advance to the international competition. The team will represent the city and state in California from May 26-June 1.
