Senior Health & Fitness Day at Davis Y
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road, will join an estimated 1,000 groups Wednesday to celebrate the 22nd Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day, the Y executive director, Timothy Hilk, says.
As an official host site, the Davis Family Y will offer free activities for older people from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Among the activities are screenings, fitness evaluations, land and water fitness classes, an outdoor walking club and a pickle ball demonstration from 10 a.m. to noon, organizers say.
From 10:30 a.m. to noon, Dick Hartzell will speak on “Stretching in Your Senior Years” and offer a demonstration with bands.
Healthful snacks and coffee will be provided.
For 21 years, National Senior Health & Fitness Day has been held on the last Wednesday in May in support of Older Americans Month and National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. The program, the largest of its kind, is organized by the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for professionals who work.
