Ryan Coogler’s movie “Sinners” received 16 Oscar nominations, breaking the record of 14 for “All About Eve,” “Titanic” and “La La Land.”
The film stars Michael B. Jordan, who plays twin brothers who start a blues club in 1930s Mississippi amid the challenges of racism – and vampires.
Its nominations include best picture, director, leading actor (Jordan), supporting actor (British actor Delroy Lindo), supporting actress (British-Nigerian actor Wunmi Mosaku) and casting. The casting category is in its first year.
The nominations were announced Thursday morning. The Academy Awards ceremony will take place March 15 at Ovation Theatre in Los Angeles.
