Sleep in Heavenly Peace Seeks Volunteers for Bed-Building Event

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit that provides bunk beds to children without a bed, will host local event June 15 as part of Bunks Across America.

That day, Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapters across the country will build a total of 1,500 beds with the help of volunteers. The Youngstown chapter is aiming to build 20 at El Jalapeno 2, 4626 Mahoning Ave. in Austintown, between 8 a.m. and noon June 15. 

Chapter co-presidents Jeff Watkins and Travis Leonard said the local chapter has more than 300 requests for beds.

Founded in 2012 in Idaho, Sleep in Heavenly Peace has built and delivered more than 2,800 bunk beds to children nationwide. More information is available at SHPBeds.org.
