YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – After more than seven decades of service to the South Side community, the Sparkle Market location on South Avenue will permanently close in mid-June.
The decision comes as a result of ongoing financial challenges, including rising operational costs and declining sales that have made continuing operations at the location unsustainable, a news release states.
“We’ve been on the South Side for 73 years,” store owner Tony Modarelli said. “We thank everyone for their loyalty over the years. It’s been an honor to serve this community for so long.”
The store will continue to honor this week’s and next week’s advertised specials as scheduled. Following that, inventory will be gradually sold down ahead of the official closing, the release states.
