POLAND, Ohio – Sport Clips Haircuts at 1320 Boardman-Poland Road is inviting the community to help support local veterans during its Haircuts with Heart fundraiser from July 19-25.
The fundraiser will support the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships of up to $5,000 to service members and veterans pursuing college or technical education as they transition into civilian careers. The local shop aims to raise $6,000 during this year’s campaign after raising approximately $3,000 last year.
“Every dollar raised helps veterans pursue education and career opportunities after their military service,” said Haley Gottschalk, store manager of Sport Clips in Poland. “We’re excited to bring the community together for a fun week of family-friendly activities while making a real difference in the lives of veterans and their families.”
Community events will include:
- Family Carnival Night: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19.
- Heroes Night: Noon to 7 p.m. July 20.
- Local Sports Night: Noon to 7 p.m. July 21.
- Kids Day: Noon to 7 p.m. July 22.
- Bike Night: Noon to 7 p.m. July 23.
- Rodeo Night: Noon to 9 p.m. July 24.
- Car Show: Noon to 5 p.m. July 25.
Bike Night will be presented by Ellis Music Events and will feature a live acoustic performance by Solo Sixstring from 4-6 p.m.
“Live music has a unique way of bringing people together,” said Jake Ellis, owner of Ellis Music Events. “When we learned Sport Clips was looking for entertainment to help support a fundraiser benefiting veterans, we wanted to be part of it. Supporting organizations that give back to those who have served our country is an opportunity we are proud to be involved with.”
Event attendees are encouraged to continue supporting local entertainment by attending Ellis Music Events’ Summer of ’89 concert at Penguin City Brewing Co. after the fundraiser’s conclusion July 25.
