SALEM, Ohio – Salem Regional Medical Center is welcoming fellowship trained psychiatrist Christopher Seman, D.O. to its medical staff.
Seman graduated from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and then completed his residency in general psychiatry and family medicine. He also obtained a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry.
With over 25 years of experience, Seman specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. He will provide psychiatric services for children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. He also serves as the medical director of the SRMC Behavioral Medicine and Wellness Center.
“Mental health conditions are very common, and a person’s mental health is just as important as his or her physical health,” Seman says. “Your primary care physician may refer you to a psychiatrist if you have behaviors, emotions or thought patterns that are disruptive to your everyday life.”
“A psychiatrist diagnoses these mental health conditions and then develops individualized treatment plans, as needed. This often involves a combination of therapies, such as psychotherapy or medications,” he explains.
