WARREN, Ohio – A $250,000 state loan will assist MacPherson Engineering Inc. with construction of a new standalone safety glass manufacturing facility.

Approval of the Regional 166 Direct Loan Program funds was announced in an Ohio Department of Development news release.

The funds to MacPherson Engineering and MacPherson Industries LLC, a real estate holding company formed to hold the project real estate and lease it to the operating company, will support construction of a metal building measuring 100 feet by 40 feet by 16 feet at 2809 Mahoning Ave. NW, according to state documents. The $340,795 project will support the creation of three new full-time equivalent jobs and retention of 31 jobs.

The loan will have a term of 20 years and carry an interest rate of 3.75%.

MacPherson officials were not available at press time to comment.

The department also announced the city of Kent will receive $1.12 million to support the Davey Tree Project. The roadwork will consist of the construction of a roundabout measuring 100 linear feet in diameter on state Route 43/North Mantua Road between The Davey Tree Expert Co. at 1500 North Mantua St. and the Davey Tree Expert Company Seed Campus at 6700 state Route 43.

The project also includes the repaving and alignment of approximately 1,400 linear feet of state Route 43, beginning at River Bend Boulevard and continuing to the north. The project will improve traffic flow and accessibility to the recently expanded Davey seed campus.
